Opening Credits Pros And Cons.
Discuss your opinion of opening credits.I feel there are both strengths and weaknesses of having opening credits in the opening sequence of a thriller. The positive about having opening credits in a thriller is that you typically get a sense of location also by showing the cast and the films production desgin etc. It allows the audience to have the chance of identifing with the characters in the film and even if we haven't been introduced to them yet and makes sure you see who contributed to the film instead of people just walking out as soon as the flim ends which is a benefit for the production designers and directors becuase you may recognize their name in another film so effectively brings up their identity. For example, the film 'Panic Room' starts of with various establishing shots showing the production design of the film. The film is set in a large city, probably New York. If people who live in a city are watching the film, they may then begin to relate to the film and may have an immediate interest making want continue watching the film. While on the other hand, the bad thing about having opening credits in a thriller is that the audience may have a build up of excitement or adrenaline, in preparation for a fright before they go in to watch the film and this could be wasted since opening credits can go on for quite a while which sometime leads to boring the audience, which could make them lose interest in it.
