Production log (Pre production)
15/02/11 : Today me and other group members discuses the title and the typography. In the beginning we went for a red title, but we decided that it was too cliche for the thriller genre, and ended up using blue. we used the effect drop down, using a delay due to the titles falling to fast. As a group we discussed the target audience for the physiological thriller genre and the film were making specifically, we decided on a 20-40 year old age range. Tomorrow we will be drawing the story board for the animatic, also deciding on music for the animatic. we shall also be designing the production logo.
17/02/11 : Today we made the production logo on photoshop after finally agreeing a group name 'Axe Power' and drawed out the story board for our animatic. Tomorrow we will be added the last of the requirments to our blog and making the animatic while holding casting sessions.
18/02/11 : Today we filmed the animatic and edited it with sound and timing also we filmed casting sessions for character roles in our opening sequence.

Our Logo
This is our production company logo i have created with the help of the other members of my group.
We came up with the name 'Axe Power' because it stands out and suggests authority also people associate Axe with danger with works goes with our theme of a thriller .
With the name chosen we thought our picture should relate back to it. so we decided at first to have a axe and the name then later brought in the forest back ground because forest's generally accompany axes and forests can also be very dark and dangerous places.
We originally had a different front at first but after a bit of searching we found a front called 'piecesofeight' its a unofficial front but we thought it looked good.
At first we had the colour as white then black but neither worked well with the background after trying a few other colours we decided to have red connoting danger what is stereotypical in any thriller we also added the stroke effect giving the wording a white outline thus making it stand out in the photo and draw attention to it.

Opening Credits Pros And Cons.
Discuss your opinion of opening credits.I feel there are both strengths and weaknesses of having opening credits in the opening sequence of a thriller. The positive about having opening credits in a thriller is that you typically get a sense of location also by showing the cast and the films production desgin etc. It allows the audience to have the chance of identifing with the characters in the film and even if we haven't been introduced to them yet and makes sure you see who contributed to the film instead of people just walking out as soon as the flim ends which is a benefit for the production designers and directors becuase you may recognize their name in another film so effectively brings up their identity. For example, the film 'Panic Room' starts of with various establishing shots showing the production design of the film. The film is set in a large city, probably New York. If people who live in a city are watching the film, they may then begin to relate to the film and may have an immediate interest making want continue watching the film. While on the other hand, the bad thing about having opening credits in a thriller is that the audience may have a build up of excitement or adrenaline, in preparation for a fright before they go in to watch the film and this could be wasted since opening credits can go on for quite a while which sometime leads to boring the audience, which could make them lose interest in it.
Target Audience
The film we are creating is a physiological thriller, the target audience for these are between 20-40 years of age, this film is smiler in audience to films such as minority report through that has a sci-fie feel to it, due to it being set in the future, but smiler due to both being made around conspiracy and both have a scene of investigation. Other films that are smiler are, state of play, bourne trilogy. Due to the two male protagonist the film is more leaning towards a male audience although the unconventional female antagonist may expand our target audience slightly, this is also reflected in the genre, the other examples i used e.g. minority report, which all also have male protagonists.
